Remembering Nurses in the Military

Memorial Day 2010We honor all of the dedicated nurses serving our soldiers, veterans, staff and families around the world. Thank you for serving our country through your nursing career!

Kathleen Stierwalt became a military nurse as a grandmother after her son was injured by an explosive device. Joining other older nurses who enlisted, Kathleen said, “We still feel the need to represent our country by taking care of wounded soldiers. My faith and prayers gave me strength and sanity to cope with what was happening at home, while completing my mission of caring for the injured with compassionate nursing skills.”

Kathleen is the author of “Nurses Go to War: A Grandmother’s Tour of Duty,” published by the Journal of Christian Nursing.
